The United Nations Orchestra had the honour of accompanying the young French virtuoso violinist Solenne Païdassi, winner of the First Grand Prix Violin at the Long-Thibaud Competition in 2010. The orchestra performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, followed by the 5th Symphony, one of the most resonant symphonic works of our time.
This concert was dedicated to Graines de Paix, a Swiss NGO that is committed to education for peace in West Africa. Founded in 2005, Graines de Paix pursues a mission of peace education to children, youth and adults. 420 trainers and 33.600 teachers will be trained in 3 years, 1.5 million Ivorian children will benefit from this program. Today, 80,000 children are already involved.
All funds raised at this concert were donated to Graines de Paix.
